These self-contained indicators consist of a spore strip, sealed glass ampule with growth medium and bromocresol purple pH indicator dye system, blue color-coded cap with sterilant penetration holes and a filter, and a chemical indicator on the label. After sterilization, the vial is crushed to combine the growth media with the spore strip. Incubation for 24 hours reveals a visual color change readout. A yellow color change indicates surviving spores and a positive result.
